Project Description...
This stunning timberframe home is layered in light. From cove lights to art accents, decorative fixtures and in-cabinet lighting, this home is comfortable and cozy. Stone is raked with light while generous cove lighting gently washes the ceiling in many rooms. A hidden colored lighting detail provides a surprise to visitors as the backlit art niche slowly evolves in color over time. The pool, including a 60ft underground waterslide was illuminated for safety and beauty.

Colorado Log Home

Thumbnail images of Lighting design in a Colorado mountain home
Project Description...
Once in a while lighting designers get the opportunity to design something for a project that transcends typical design features. This Colorado log home had many architectural challenges that led to the creation of a family of custom accent lights. The extremely high ceilings are softly uplit with custom up-down lights. The scale and design of the fixtures was coordinated with the architect and many talented craftsmen. The challenge was to come up with lights that could mount to various diameters and spacings of logs, while being able to adjust to the natural deflections that occur in log construction. These custom fixtures all had to look as if they had been fashioned by a blacksmith in a barn. The hand-hammered finished product combines the high performance necessary to light art and furniture, yet look as if they may have been fabricated in one of the adjacent buildings on the property.
